Headcount enrollment includes both full-time and part-time enrolled freshman students, including those admitted through special access programs. Special access programs include the University Challenge for Excellence Program, Pitt Engineering Impact Program, Provisional Engineering Program, Summer Transitional Education Program, Office of Continuing Education, New Careers Program, and recruited student-athletes.

In addition to the four schools listed, first-time, first-year students enroll in the two-year Dental Hygiene program offered through Dental Medicine and in baccalaureate programs offered through General Studies. In Fall Term, 1998, for example, Dental Medicine enrolled 11 and General Studies enrolled 79 first-time, first-year students.

Figures are based on full-time, first-time freshmen enrolled, for whom data are available, and exclude students admitted through special access programs. High School Rank data were available for 91% of the students. ACT and SAT Scores data were available for 16% and 99%, respectively.

The College of Business Administration admitted its first freshman class in Fall Term, 1995.

Based on father's education.

Based on annual, 1998 CPI-W 159.7 (1982-84 = 100).
